Each year the citizens and guests of Antoing commune dive into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages for a day of the Medieval Festival. Antoing is situated in Hainaut, region of Wallonia, and offers a unique surrounding for this celebration: the Antoing Castle, called also the Castle of Princes de Ligne, by the noble Belgian family who has owned it since the 17th century. The Antoing Castle is considered one of Belgium's most original and well-known castles, dating back to the 12th century.
The Medieval Festival offers the visitors a program of various experiences: craft market around the Castle, competitions in archery, jousting, medieval dinner and all kinds of the medieval entertainment with skilled jugglers, acrobats, fire-eaters and musicians. The displays of falconry and magic open the way to imagination and emotions, dancing and music shows fill the atmosphere with the sounds of medieval city, military camps demonstrate the everyday life of a medieval soldier.
