Medieval Festival of Bayeux
Les Médiévales des Bayeux
Bayeux (Basse-Normandie region)
Every year a charming gem of Northern France offers its well-preserved heritage as a setting for a great medieval festival to relive the age of the dukes of Normandy ...
Bayeux commune is located in the Calvados department of Normandy, in north-western France. Bayeux is the home of the Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England.
Every summer for several days Bayeux puts on medieval colours, inviting citizens and guests to the great Medieval Festival. The reenactment groups from France and all Europe set up their camps and recreate the daily life of the Vikings, Saxons and Normans. Historical dresses, traditional food of the Middle Ages, music performances, crafts, games, fighting displays – all aspects of the historical past are presented in order to recreate the medieval life and celebrations in the most natural way.
