Festival of Ramparts of Châtenois
Fête des Remparts de Châtenois
Châtenois (Alsace region)
Châtenois is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace in north-eastern France. For many years ancient double walls of the city were overgrown with ivy. From 2001 the restoration of the site began, making the traditional place for the Festival devoted to Ramparts of Châtenois as a symbol of the city heritage.
The Medieval festivities invite the visitors to discover Châtenois, an ancient green site, and its feudal heritage. About 500 participants in historical costumes create the atmosphere of the Middle Ages in the city, taking the public back to Châtenois of the past. The event offers various activities and displays for all ages and interests: medieval banquet, street entertainment, artisans market, exhibitions and ancient games.
