On Easter night or morning the faithful go to the church to the Holy Mass, which in Orthodox church is started, and in Catholic church is ended with the solemn procession. In this way the faithful are greeting Christ, who has risen from the dead. When the Mass is ended, in Eastern European countries the faithful say to each other the traditional greeting: “Christ is risen!”, the response to which is “Indeed He is risen!” This greeting is used during the whole feast day. There is a special Paschal troparion (a short religious hymn), characteristic of both Catholic and Orthodox churches.
